Escape room at home

Turn any room into a DIY escape room — no physical lockboxes, just a phone.

The essence of an escape room is a chain of puzzles that must be solved in order, against the clock. With Rejtély you build that puzzle chain from code-lock and question stations, and players solve them on their phones. Here is how:

  1. 1

    Pick a theme and story

Choose a theme (mystery, heist, fairy tale, spy) that ties the puzzles together and sets the mood.

  2. 2

    Design puzzles as stations

Create code-lock and question stations that must be solved in order. Each correct answer leads to the next clue.

  3. 3

    Hide the clues

Place QR codes and physical clues around the room. One clue can point to the location of the next QR code.

  4. 4

    Start the game

Give the player the first link and a time limit. The goal: solve the final station before time runs out.

Tips for a great escape room

  • Keep puzzles logical — the solution should clearly lead to the next step.
  • Mix puzzle types: code locks, questions, photo riddles and video clues.
  • Test it with a friend before playing it for real.
  • 3–6 stations is ideal for a 30–45 minute game.
